UPF 50 PLUS CLOTHING is an Indian based company whose primary goal is to help prevent the occurrence of skin cancer by providing stylish UV protective clothing that keeps people safe and comfortable in the sun.  The anti-aging benefits that accompany consistent sun protection are an added bonus.

Having had melanoma and basal cell carcinoma, we started having a comprehensive sun protection strategy which always includes wearing UV protective clothing.

All about UPF

Fact: Not all clothes provide effective sun protection. Some fabrics let in a lot of UV radiation which can damage the skin and lead to both skin cancer and premature aging.  Ultraviolet Protection Factor (UPF) is the rating system used for apparel that tells us how effectively a fabric blocks UV rays.  The higher the UPF number, the greater the UVA and UVB protection a fabric offers. (UVA rays cause aging, UVB rays cause sunburn. Both contribute to skin cancer.)  UPF ratings are as follows:

When it comes to sun protection, UPF 50+ is the best rating a fabric can receive.  In order to ensure our fabrics, provide excellent sun protection, they are third-party tested and certified before being considered for production. 

SPF vs. UPF

SPF stands for Sun Protection Factor and is the standard used to measure the effectiveness of sunscreens.  As previously mentioned, UPF stands for Ultraviolet Protection Factor and is the standard used to measure a fabric’s effectiveness to block UVA and UVB rays.  If a fabric is rated UPF 50+, that means at least 98% of both UVA and UVB rays are consistently blocked. 

Unless a sunscreen is labelled as “broad-spectrum,” it only provides UVB protection.  When used properly, broad-spectrum sunscreens provide wonderful protection from the sun and should be used wherever UPF clothing doesn’t cover. 

SPF should be applied 30-minutes before sun exposure and reapplied every 2 hours.  Although SPF has its place, most people aren’t diligent enough about reapplying their sunscreen.  We’ve all been there.  Maybe you forgot your sunscreen at home.  Perhaps there’s an exposed area on your back you can’t quite reach.  Hey, maybe you just don’t feel like applying that much sun screen.  Whatever the reason might be, SPF tends to need a helping hand.

UPF clothing is that helping hand and should be your primary defence against the sun.  According to the Skin Cancer Foundation, “UPF 50 PLUS Clothing is the most effective form of sun protection.”  We make stylish sun protective clothing so you can safely enjoy your time in the sun.

Wanting to bring something new to the UPF clothing niche, we make fabrics that provide superior sun protection while still being light-weight and luxurious.

Our Bamboo/ Cotton / Elastane fabric is soft on the skin and drapes elegantly on the body. Light-weight and naturally wrinkle resistant, our fabric lends itself equally well to travel and daily wear. Additionally, it dries quickly and is machine washable.

The dyeing process incorporates eco-friendly principles, products are Azo Free and have not come into contact with any heavy metal dyes., as well as utilizing eco-friendly inks in our printing. We take pride in safe and eco conscious manufacturing.

They are free of child labour, exploitation, genetic engineering and environmental pollution. The production is carried out in India.

Our garments are ethically made in fair and safe work environments.

All our products are tested for banned chemicals such as Formaldehyde, Pesticides, Nickel, Heavy metals and Dyes are environmentally friendly without heavy metals and prints are Azo free.

Our products are detailed in Organic Cotton, Cotton, Viscose from Bamboo, Pima cotton, Viscose, Recycled Polyester, Modal, Merino wool, Tencel, etc....

WHAT WE DO

UPF 50 PLUS Clothing offers a comprehensive range of fabric for Sportswear, contemporary, loungewear, yoga, maternity, active wear, eco-friendly performance fabrics. Our supplier partner factory Research and Development department can develop any fibre/fabric in Bamboo / Merino Wool etc.

UPF 50+ Clothing - Recycled Fabric

Our fabrics are made from recycled plastic bottles. Our fabric partner was selected because they actually collect their own plastic bottles and feed them into a vertically integrated process to create UPF 50+ Clothing recycled smart fabrics. It allows our apparel to tell an amazing certifiably sustainability story—traceable and transparent.

UPF 50 PLUS CLOTHING can identify new suppliers based on their Product range, financial status, Infrastructure, Man power, In house Quality management system, Factory audit/ Social Compliance audit. We continuously update our information on new manufacturers and new products.

UPF 50 PLUS CLOTHING, all products have permanent UPF 50 + protection, and block 98% of UVA and UVB rays, which meet the standard of BS EN 13758-2 and ARPANSA certification.

CERTIFICATES AND GUARANTEES

All our fabrics are subjected to tests at BS EN 13758-2, the entity that developed the standard to measure their entire lifetime.

UPF 50+ CLOTHING products are an alternative to sun protection. All parts of the body covered by our clothes do not require the use of sunscreen.
